HAMR is seeking a highly motivated and versatile Additive Manufacturing (AM) Technician to join our advanced manufacturing team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of metal 3D printing and sustainment, responsible for the operation and maintenance of a variety of AM systems, including cold spray AM (CSAM), laser powder and laser wire directed energy deposition (LP/LW-DED), laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF), liquid metal jet (LMJ), and wire arc DED (WA-DED). Particular emphasis will be applied to supporting as lead technician for expeditionary AM and repair activities, requiring a flexible schedule and strong ability to think ‘on the fly’ and problem solve. This role will support the start-to-finish execution of project and production work including manufacturing and repair plan development, site preparation, printing or repairing activities, post-processing, logistics, and metallography, both expeditionary and in-house. Additionally, this role will assist in maintaining our quality management system by assisting in quality activities such as data collection, record keeping, and reporting. By combining hands-on skills, a disciplined approach to troubleshooting, and robust data collection, you will help HAMR maintain its reputation for technical excellence and innovation in the advanced materials and manufacturing supporting applications ranging from hypersonics and space to subsea and munitions.

General Roles and Responsibilities:
Set up, operate, and monitor various AM platforms in-house, and at the point-of-need.
Assist in development of expeditionary manufacturing and repair plans and trials.
Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on hardware to ensure maximum uptime and process repeatability.
Maintain high-pressure gas and compressed air systems, including the replacement, repair, and rebuilding of lines and fittings.
Assist in in-house and expeditionary post-processing (heat treatment, machining)
Maintain records of build parameters, maintenance logs, and project data to support engineering and quality requirements.
Collaborate with the engineering team to execute project timelines, ensuring parts are processed from initial setup through post-processing.
Maintain a clean and safe workspace, adhering to strict protocols for metal powder handling, high-pressure system safety, laser safety, and machining best practices.
Support and operate within an AS9100 Quality Management System, including creating and maintaining documentation and records, adhering to strict production standards, and assisting with reporting, audits, and inspections.
Primary support of expeditionary manufacturing and repair activities.
Basic Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in a hands-on technical, mechanical, or manufacturing role. (No Bachelor’s degree required).
Strong ability to use hand tools and power tools; experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems.
Willingness and ability to travel, with potential for multi-week travel up to 30% time.
Proven ability to follow complex work instructions and document technical data with high accuracy and attention to detail.
A team-player mindset with the ability to balance and prioritize tasks across several different projects simultaneously.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a shop floor environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Manufacturing related trade, apprenticeship, or vocational training.
Practical knowledge of compressed air/gas systems and the ability to work with industrial fittings and lines.
Prior experience with metal AM processes (DED, L-PBF, EB-PBF, or Cold Spray) and familiarity with metal powder safety (PPE, inerting, and handling).
Proficiency with manual machine shop equipment such as band saws, mills, lathes, and drilling/tapping tools.
Experience with Metallography, including sample preparation, mounting, and polishing for material characterization.
Familiarity with any Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
A track record of identifying process inefficiencies or hardware failures and proposing creative solutions.
Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Mastercam, etc.).
Familiarity working in austere and non-traditional manufacturing environments.
